6 dead due to inclement weather - Another 7 hundred thousand affected.
Six deaths were reported from Hegoda and Rilpola of the Badulla District due to the prevailing inclement weather in the country. Besides, 700,000 people have been affected due to the inflicted weather.
Meanwhile, Irrigation and Water Management Ministry says that spill gates of Naula and Bowatenna have been fully opened due to heavy showers.
The ministry’s notice further requested the residents living in low lying areas of Katugastota, Akurana, Naula, Elahera and other low lying areas of Amban Ganga to take caution.
The notice also requested those living by the river banks to evacuate themselves with immediate effect.
Spill gates of the Udawalawe Reservoir have been opened at this moment and people living in Ambalantota area are warned to be vigilant of possible floods.
Meanwhile, six spill gates of Veheragala Reservoir of Kataragama have been elevated by 4.5 feet this morning.
