Landslide threat still effective in 11 districts; Upcountry trains cancelled today as well
The landslide warning issued by the National Building Research Organization to Matale, Kandy, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Hambantota, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Kalutara, Galle and Matara Districts are still effective.
The Director of the organization’s Landslide Research and Risk Management Division R.M.S. Bandara urged the public to evacuate from the landslide prone areas.
Meanwhile, Train services along the upcountry railway line have been limited to Rambukkana as a result of earth slips that have occurred near the rail tracks.
Sources stated that services are expected to return back to normal tomorrow.
Meanwhile, several roads are also under water following heavy rains.
