937 thousand 671 persons have been affected as a result of the adverse weather conditions affecting 17 districts.

Deputy Media Director of the Disaster Management Centre Sarath Lal Kumara stated that 15 deaths have been reported.

According to the Irrigation Department, 61 out of 73 major reservoirs  operating under the Department, continue to spill over.

In addition, the water level of Malwathu Oya, Kala Oya, Mee Oya, Deduru Oya, Yaan Oya and Amban River, Kelani River, Mahaweli River, Menik River as well as Attanu-galu-Oya continue to rise.

However, water levels of the reservoirs have receded to some extent since heavy showers were not experienced yesterday .

Meanwhile, Duty Meteorologist Nimal Bandara stated that the low pressure situation in the bay of Bengal is turning in to a depression.

Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that he would obtain additional 500 million rupees from the Treasury to provide relief to the people affected by the inclement weather.
