Election atmosphere warms up as Presidential Election draws near
The election atmosphere has been warming up 12 days ahead of the Presidential election.
Addressing a media conference held in Colombo today, JHU former deputy Secretary Udaya Gammanpila said he was doubtful whether the contribution of JHU leaders was included in the common candidate’s election manifesto.
At the same time former minister Champika Ranawaka joined in a leaflet distribution campaign in Borella this morning.
Addressing a gathering former Minister Ranawaka said steps would be taken to counter the false propaganda carried out by the government against the common candidate’s election manifesto.
Meanwhile minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said in a media briefing held in Colombo today that nothing has left for the common opposition to criticize the government.
At the same time, UNP MP Dr. Harsha de Silva explained in a media briefing held in Colombo today why everybody should vote for the common candidate.
Meanwhile 5 members of the North Central and the Uva Provincial Councils pledged their support today to common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena.
However addressing a public rally held in Kolonnawa, Colombo District MP R. Dumindha Silva said that everybody should work at life risk for the victory of the leader who saved the country.
