Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama who was arrested on his arrival at the Katunayake International airport this morning has been remanded till next Tuesday.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the Deputy Minister was arrested on a warrant issued on him by the Baddegama Magistrate Court.

Deputy Minister Muthuhettigama has been charged for forced removal of 3 suspects who were arrested in connection with the recent arson attack on a stage set up for Common Candidate Maithreepala Sirisena’s election rally in Wanduramba.

Arrested Deputy Minister Muthuhettigama remanded

Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama was produced before Negombo Magistrate court and remanded until the 30th of this month following his arrest at Katunayake Airport.

The Deputy Minister who traveled overseas while he was issued with a warrant, was arrested at Katunayake airport this morning.  

He is accused of forcibly removing 3 arrested suspects in connection with the recent arson attack on Common Candidate Maithreepala Sirisena’s stage at Wanduramba.

Muthuhettigama arrested at Katunayake Airport

Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama who was on arrest warrant has been arrested on his arrival at the Katunayake International airport this morning.

Deputy Minster Muthuhettigama arrived in Katunayake at 11.15am by Sri Lankan Airline flight No.UL307.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the deputy minister was arrested on a warrant issued on him by the Baddegama Magistrate Court.

The SSP said that the deputy minister is scheduled to be produced before court.

Deputy Minister Muthuhettigama has been charged for forced removing of three suspects who were arrested in connection with the recent arson attack on a stage set up for common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena’s election rally in Wanduramba.
