Wild elephant herd invade several villages amid heavy showers

People of 20 villages in Puttalam have been greatly inconvenienced following the invasion of a herd of wild elephants amid heavy showers.

The wild elephants have destroyed several crops including plantains and coconuts grown by the villagers of Bogahayaya, Dangahawala, Kiwula, Kandeyaaya, Galkulama among others.

500 coconut trees have been felled by the herd while several crops including peanuts and corn grown in 100 acres of land have been destroyed.
