India is a relative: China is a friend: says President.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that India is a relative of Sri Lanka while China is a friend.
While joining an interview with a Tamil Nadu private television channel 'Thandi', the President said that as long as he remains in power, he will not allow anyone to exploit the land of Sri Lanka against its neighboring countries.
The President also praised the foreign policy of the Indian premier Narendra Modi, saying that the Indian premier has opened a new entry to strengthen the relationship between India and Sri Lanka.
He added that he took measures to release the Indian fishermen who were on death row as a result of this new relationship.
The Indian High Commission is constantly enlightened regarding the arrival of Chinese war ships to Sri Lanka.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa further stated that during the Sri Lankan tour of Chinese President Xi Jinping, 7 Chinese war ships were deployed around the island.
