The ban imposed on the LTTE in Tamil Nadu has been extended by the state government.

The decision has been taken following the verdict given by a panel of judges appointed by the Tamil Nadu government to look in to the illegal activities of the outfit.

6 LTTE suspects were arrested from Ramanathapuram area in Tamil Nadu on the 5th of May last year.

The LTTE was also accused of an explosion near the residence of P Chithambaram who was a Minister of the Indian Central Government.

Another attempt was made to set explosives to the vehicle of another Tamil Nadu politician Subramanium Swamy.

Since these incidents add up to indicating that the LTTE is active in Tamil Nadu, a verdict was given to extend the ban.
