Yet another phase of the Daham Saviya programme initiated under the patronage of MP R Duminda Silva.
Yet another phase of the Daham Saviya programme of reconstructing places of worship of all religions implemented according to a concept of Colombo District MP R. Duminda Silva was held yesterday as well coinciding with the Duruthu Poya Day.
Financial aid is provided for developing Buddhist Temples, Catholic churches, Hindu Kovils as well as Muslim mosques under the ‘Daham Saviya’ programme.
Accordingly financial donation was granted to three Buddhist Temples under the Daham Saviya programme.
MP R. Duminda Silva came first to the Kandey ancient Buddhist Temple in Gothatuwa and observed religious observances.
Subsequently the MP also offered a financial donation for constructing the Temple’s monastery.
Gothatuwa Kandey Ancient Buddhist Temple Chief Incumbent Venerable Amunu-kandurey Dhammarathana Thero expressing his views on this occasion thanked MP R Duminda Silva for his philanthropic acts.
The other Buddhist Temple for which financial donation was granted under the Daham Saviya programme subsequently was the Wellampitiya Sri Sambuddhaaloka Buddhist Temple.
On this occasion MP R. Duminda Silva first obtained the Mahaa Sangha’s blessings and participated in religious observances.
On this occasion the MP offered a financial donation to Chief Incumbent most Venerable Maenik-kadawala Gnaanawimala Thero for carrying out the Temple’s activities.
Meanwhile the other Buddhist Temple for which financial donation was given under the Daham Saviya programme was the Sri Shaanthi Buddhist Temple in Meethotamulla.
On this occasion too the MP offered a financial donation for expediting the Temple’s development activities.
Chief Incumbent Venerable Rambukwaelley Sanghaa-nanda Thero expressing his views on this occasion said that he appreciated these philanthropic activities that MP R. Duminda Silva was carrying out.
