Chief Prelates make a request from the election commissioner;

The Chief Prelates made a request from the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya to create an environment for the country to be honored by the world after ensuring a free and fair election.

The Chief Prelate of Malwathu Chapter Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Thera and the Chief Prelate of Asgiri Chapter Udugama Buddha-rakkitha Thera stated in a letter addressed to the Elections Commissioner, that since the ancient times it has been the responsibility of Maha Sangha to guide the people of this country to live in unity, peace and coexistence.

Regarding the intimidations and vandalizing of property reported from certain parts of the country, the Chief Prelates further requested the Elections Commissioner to implement the law on everyone equally and facilitate a peaceful environment for people to cast their votes freely.
