1185 election related complaints reported; 150 suspects arrested; 6 special instructions from the IGP.
The IGP has enlightened all senior DIGs on 6 matters which would ensure a free and fair presidential election to be held on January 8th.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana further describes about the matter with regard to the presidential election.
The Police Media Spokesman also said that 350 complaints with regard to election violence have been received while 150 persons in connection with such incidents have been arrested so far.
He said except 18 suspects, the rest of suspects have been remanded or bailed out after they were produced before court.
SSP Ajith Rohana said 20 politicians have involved in election violence incidents.
Meanwhile a group of postal workers staged a protest against the assault on a fellow worker by Uva Provincial Council minister Sendil Thondaman.
The protest was held in front of the Badulla main post office against the assault on a postman attached to the Ella post office.
