All ready for Presidential election; Transporting ballot boxes to counting centres from forenoon today.
In view of the presidential election all ballot boxes are scheduled to be taken from district secretariats to polling stations under special security this forenoon.
Election staff and relevant documents and stationery too will be transported to polling stations along with the ballot boxes.
The Election Department said that while voting will take place at 12 thousand 313 polling stations of the 22 electoral districts, about 150 thousand officers would be deployed on election duty.
The election commissioner has informed all political party secretaries to refrain from organizing agitations, protests, walks and other such activities of any kind today and tomorrow as presidential election propaganda activities have been concluded.
Meanwhile the Excise Department said that all taverns in the island would remain closed tomorrow and day-after-tomorrow in view of the presidential election.
