The polls to elect the 7th President in Sri Lanka will begin tomorrow at 7 in the morning.

1.5 million 44 thousand and 490 voters are scheduled to cast their vote at 12 thousand 314 polling station throughout the island.

Several district receiving officers told our news team that rehearsals with regard to the process of presidential polls tomorrow were held.

They stated that all arrangements have already been in place to begin the polls tomorrow at 7 in the morning.

The transporting of ballot boxes from distributing centers to polling centers for the Presidential election has been completed.

Transporting ballot boxes to polling centres commences.

The transporting of ballot boxes from distributing centers to polling centers for the Presidential election commenced this morning.

At the same time, officers-in-charge for polling stations have also been appointed under the supervision of district receiving officers this morning.

Earlier, other polling officers have been informed in writing of their duty centers.

Election staff and relevant documents and stationery too will be transported to polling stations along with the ballot boxes.

The Election Department said that while voting will take place at 12 thousand 313 polling stations of the 22 electoral districts, about 150 thousand officers would be deployed on election duty.

The election commissioner has informed all political party secretaries to refrain from organizing agitations, protests, walks and other such activities of any kind today and tomorrow as presidential election propaganda activities have been concluded.

Meanwhile the Excise Department said that all taverns in the island would remain closed tomorrow and day-after-tomorrow in view of the presidential election.
