Arrested Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara has been remanded until the 20th of this month, after he was produced before Fort Magistrate court.  

He was arrested in connection with an incident where a person was shot dead while decorating the premises of a political meeting in Kahawatta, Ratnapura.

The victim was a 57 year old resident of kahawatta.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident including the Deputy Minister, by a special police team in Aluthgama.

Meanwhile, Police media spokesman added that investigations are currently underway to arrest warranted Uva provincial minister Sendil Thondaman for assaulting a postman in Ella area.

Arrested Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara to be produced in court Investigations to arrest Sendil Thondaman

Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated that they will produce the arrested former Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara to Pelmadulla Magistrate court today, in connection with a political murder.

When inquired by our news team, the Police media spokesman said that an investigation is currently underway to arrest a provincial councillor in connection with the relevant murder case.

Meanwhile, Police media spokesman further said that no critical incidents were reported during the post-election period

Deputy Minister arrested over Kahawatte political murder

Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara has been arrested over a political murder.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the Deputy Minister was arrested over the shooting incident at a political rally in Kahawatte, in which one person was killed.
