The cross over syndrome among politicians since the day the presidential election was announced has still remained the talk of the town.

A protest was held at Ahangama town this morning demanding the government not to take deputy speaker Chandima Weerakkody to the new government.

The protest erupted as media reported today that Chandima Weerakkody is going to pledge support to President Maithreepala Sirisena.

Our correspondent said that traffic was barred on the Galle Matara road due to the protest, and several protestors expressed their views to our news team.

Meanwhile another protest was held at Mahiyangana town against the move to take Anura Vidanagama to the government.

Our correspondents stated that heavy traffic developed in Mahiyangana as well due to the protest.

In addition, government supporters protested last Tuesday demanding the government not to take MP Satin Vas Gunawardana to the government.
