Positioning of security forces in the North would be decided after studying future threats: says Army spokesman.
The Defence Ministry says that there is no immediate plan to withdraw army camps or security forces from the North.
However a study would be carried out to identify the areas where camps should be maintained and about the strength of security forces in the North.
Earlier 26 thousand acres of land in the North were controlled by the army but only 10 thousand acres are used by security forces.
Army Media Spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said during a media conference that the balance would gradually be released in the course of time.
