Since civil life has returned to normalcy across the island, it has been decided to lift the travel ban imposed in some parts of the country on foreign passport holders.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the decision was taken following a directive by President Maithripala Sirisena, at the first national security council meeting under the leadership of the new President.
Meanwhile, the list of goods prohibited from being transported to the North was also reviewed at the meeting.
Accordingly the transportation of explosive goods, weapons, camouflage costumes and binoculars would not be allowed to the North while all other goods will be permitted.
