No need of an international jurisdiction on Sri Lanka’s war; Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe tells Indian Media
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe in an interview with India’s NDTV stated that diplomatic relations will be strengthened with India and other countries as well.
The Prime Minister stated that Former President Rajapaksa's regime tried to play China against India and India against China.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe also stated that the new government will engage with the UN more, but said that the jurisdiction over war crimes, if any, lies only with Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, India’s The Hindu newspaper reported that Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera who is in Indian said that Sri Lanka’s new government will start its relationship with India on a “clean slate”.
In addition to holding bilateral discussions with his counterpart Sushma Swaraj, Minister Samaraweera will meet India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National Security Advisor Ajith Doval and Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the next couple of days.
