Former Vaduramba OIC police inspector D. L. Keerthisinghe has appealed to the IGP for reinstatement.

The Vaduramba police station OIC had resigned from service on 22nd December over former Minor Export Crops Promotion Deputy Minister Nishanta Mutuhettigama forcibly removing three suspects from police custody.

The former deputy minister had thus removed three persons suspected of having set fire to the stage of a propaganda rally organized in the Vaduramba town in Presidential candidate Maitripala Sirisena’s support.

The former deputy Minister had come to the Vaduramba police station and removed the three suspects when they were about to be taken to the Baddegama Magistrate’s court .

Subsequently the police pursued the deputy minister and re-arrested the suspects and produced them before court.

When the court had issued warrant to the former Deputy Minister over obstructing police duty, the former deputy Minister had gone to Singapore.

The former deputy minister was arrested on December 28th when he returned to the island.

Subsequently the former deputy minister was produced before the Baddegama Magistrate Court and released on bail.
