Sri lanka would act with international institutions productively;However, only Sri lanka can give final judgement'; says Prime Minister
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the process to empower parliament over the executive power has already been commenced.
Several draft bills including the draft bill to safeguard freedom of expression in connection with this process would be presented in parliament soon and independence commissions would also be enacted accordingly.
The Prime Minister announced this during a speech at the South, East, and South East Asian attorney generals conference inaugural ceremony organized to mark the 130th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s Attorney General Post at the BMICH in Colombo.
President Maithreepala Sirisena, Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakse, Ministers Rauff Hakeem and Navin Dissanayake and Bar Association President Upul Jayasuriya also participated.
During the ceremony, a stamp and a first day cover were also issued to mark the 130th anniversary of the post of Attorney General in Sri Lanka.
