Measures taken by the new govt. to fulfil people's aspirations should be appreciated; says US.

The United States has commended the early steps taken by the new Sri Lankan government to implement the promises made during the election campaign.

Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Biswal has said that the U.S. is looking forward to work with the administration of newly elected President Maithripala Sirisena.

She said the U.S. looks forward to engaging with the new government and working with them.
