Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera says that the government is committed to enact the 13th Amendment in order to devolve power to provincial councils including the North and the East.

Minister Samaraweera who is currently visiting India said that discussion should be held with all parties with regard to devolution of power.

The Hindu newspaper quoted minister Samaraweera as saying after his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi that such discussions could be commenced after the next general election.

Indian Premier has said that the new government of Sri Lanka would be able to strengthen the reconciliation process in the country.

He has further stated that as the closest neighbor and friendly nation, India would continue to assist Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that Sri Lanka would exercises new approach towards UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

He also said the aim of the Sri Lankan government is to find a new mechanism with the assistance of the international organizations.

The Minister also stated that there is no possibility for the LTTE to raise its ugly head again.

The minister therefore openly invited all those who fled the country to return home.
