UNP MP Palitha Tevarapperuma who surrendered to police this morning in connection with an alleged assaulted on a Palinda Nuwara UPFA PS member was remanded till 2nd February.

UNP MP Tevarapperuma was remanded when he was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate today.

UNP MP Palitha Thewarapperuma surrenders to police.

UNP MP Palitha Tevarapperuma who allegedly assaulted and knelt down a Palinda Nuwara UPFA PS member at Agalawatta town surrendered to police this morning.

A spokesman of the Colombo Crime Division which is investigating the incident told our news team confirmed MP Thevarapperuma’s surrender.

Police arrested another 3 persons yesterday at Matugama who are charged for this incident that took place last Sunday.

President Maithreepala Sirisena ordered the IGP yesterday to appoint a special police team to investigate this incident.

Meanwhile former Prime Minister’s son and Central Provincial Councilor Anuradha Jayarathna who had been absconding after carrying out an attack on a political office of then common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena surrendered to a Gampola court this morning.

Anuradha Jayarathna surrendered today with 3 other suspects wanted in connection with the same attack.

They are Gampola Urban Council UPFA member Tharanga Wittachchi, Uda Palatha UPFA PS member Sumudu Bandara and a VIP security guard.
