Zoological Director General Anura de Silva says that the temporarily suspended Dehiwela zoo elephant dances will recommence as soon as possible.

The authorities had earlier stopped the elephant dances on the suspicion that the elephants in the zoo had tuberculosis.

As a result of this, earlier, wildlife veterinary officers had carried out various tests on eight elephants in the zoo.

Director General Anura de Silva told our news team that by now it had been confirmed that no elephants in the zoo have tuberculosis.
