Fuel shortage in several areas after prices was reduced: Inform regarding any irregularities: says Power and energy state Minister.
A fuel shortage has been reported from Matara, Kurunegala, Dambulla and Kandy areas as the prices were reduced with effect from last midnight.
Our correspondents stated that long queues can be seen in front of certain filling stations while other filling stations are displaying notices saying fuel is out of stock.
Meanwhile the Power and Energy Ministry has issued a notice with regard to the current fuel shortage in several parts of the island.
Power and Energy State Minister Palitha Range Bandara said that a special Unit has been set up to handle complaints with regard to fuel shortage.
The government announced that it has decided to reduce the prices of fuel with effect from midnight yesterday.
Accordingly, the government has reduced the price of 92 Octane Petrol by 33 rupees per liter and it will now cost 117 rupees per liter.
Price of 95 Octane Petrol has been reduced by 30 rupees and the new price is 128 rupees.
Price of diesel has been reduced by 16 rupees per liter to 95 rupees, Super Diesel reduced by 23 rupees to 110 rupees.
Kerosene was reduced by 16 rupees per liter and it will now cost 65 rupees.
