Update: Several roads in Colombo High Security Zone including Janathipathi Mawatha open to public from today
Several roads in High Security Zones of Colombo, and kept close for public traffic for many years would be open with effect from today.
Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo today, Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that Janadhipathi Mawatha, Sir Baron Jayatilleke Mawatha and Chatham street would be open for public traffic from today.
In addition, the stretch spanning from Stanley Wijesundara Junction to Thummulla Junction along Bauddhaloka Mawatha will be open for buses from today.
Meanwhile Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s residence was not searched but on a tip off, one of his land and a hall at Weeraketiya were searched.
The Police Media Spokesman also expressed his views about the ongoing investigation with regard to a drug kingpin Samantha Kumara alias Wele Suda who was flown to Colombo after his arrest in Pakistan.
Meanwhile a journalist enquired NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa during a media briefing held in Colombo today why the previous government did not take action to arrest drug kingpin Wele Suda.

Speaking at a media briefing Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that several roads that remained closed in higher security zones in Colombo were opened for traffic from today.
Details of the roads that were opened follows:
Janadhipathi Mawatta,Baron Jayathilake Mawatta, Chatham street-Fort & Stanley Wijesundara junction to Thunmulla along Baudhaloka Mawatta.
