Prices of 10 essential goods to be reduced; State workers salary to be increased

The Finance and Policy Planning Ministry assured today that prices of 10 essential goods would be reduced by the interim budget to be presented in parliament on January 29th.

A ministry communiqué issued today stated that the public workers’ salary would also be increased as promised during the Presidential election.

Meanwhile minister Ravi Karunanayake expressed his views about the interim budget during a media conference held at his ministry today.

Addressing the media, minister Karunanayake said that the government does not expect to put tax burden whatsoever on the people by this interim budget.
