The Chief Ministers of 6 Provincial Councils have submitted a joint-letter to the President explaining the prevailing political uncertainty in their councils.

Chief Ministers of Western, Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North Central provincial councils are the signatories to this letter sent to the President.

The chief ministers pointed out in their letter that there is an element currently attempting to change the existing power in their councils.

The letter also pointed out that the decision taken by the Uva Provincial governor to remove the UPFA Chief Minister and replace him with UNP Opposition leader was contravene to the Constitution.

Therefore the chief ministers have requested the President to educate the governors of the other provincial councils about the legal provisions with regard to the replacement of chief ministers.
