A diplomatic effort is currently underway to reverse the ban imposed by the European Union on fisheries exports from Sri Lanka.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera is expected to leave for Brussels tomorrow to meet with EU representatives over the matter.

The ultimatum given by the EU for Sri Lanka to take necessary measures expired on the 15th of this month.

State Minister of Fisheries Dilip Weda-arachchi stated that the new government has paid special attention to this issue.
