Mangala visits for Europe.

Monday, 26 January 2015 - 13:20

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera will start an official tour in Europe today.

Accordingly, the Minister will first arrive at Brussels in Belgium. The Minister Samaraweera expects to meet members of the European Union (EU) and to discuss the export of fish from Sri Lanka to European States.

The European commission has momentarily suspended importing fish from Sri Lanka under the charges of Sri Lanka being engaged in illegal fishing disregarding international compliances.

The European commission has influenced Sri Lanka to take necessary steps to stop illegal fishing in the Sri Lankan waters. It is from Sri Lanka that the European Union buys tuna and sword fish since decades.
