The Judiciary Service Association of Sri Lanka stresses the need to maintain an unbiased judiciary in the country.

The Association which is comprised of judges stated that judges should perform their duty without showing any obligations towards the politicians and the Executive.

A notice with regard to this statement was issued with the signature of Secretary of the Judiciary Service Association of Sri Lanka and District Judge Ranga Dissanayake, after the executive committee meeting of the association held on the 24th of this month.

The Judiciary Service Association executive committee has drawn its attention to the CID investigations on the alleged coup that has been taken place in Temple Trees on the Presidential Election Day night of January 8th.

Charges have been made that a coup had been hatched to enable the former president to stay in power, despite the election results come in favor of the rival candidate.

The complaint made with the CID stated that the Chief Justice was present at Temple Trees when the above coup was being hatched.

Whatever the Chief Justice’s connection to the coup, the Judiciary Service Association stated that its members were shocked to learn the presence of the Chief Justice at Temple Trees at that time.
