Senior DIG Anura Senanayake responded swiftly to the allegations made this morning against him by former DIG Vass Gunawardana’s wife Sharmali Perera.

Speaking to our news team, Anura Senanayake rejected the allegations made against him by Vass Gunawardana’s wife.

However former DIG Vass Gunawardana’s wife Sharmali Perera said that she would lodge a complaint with the Bribery Commission against Senior DIG Anura Senanayake in the course of time.

Having appeared before the Bribery Commission today, Sharmali Perera told the media that Senior DIG Anura Senanayake is currently using his official influence to sell his cassettes to police officers.

When our news team inquired from the senior DIG Anura Senanayake regarding the matter, he said that he will respond to it if such a complaint is lodged at the Bribery Commission.

He further said that the Casette distribution project was launched for a housing project with the approval of the Defence Ministry.

Anura Senanayake who served as the Senior DIG in charge of Western Province was transferred to the Police Headquarters, while Poojitha Jayasundara who served as the Senior DIG in charge of Northern Province was appointed as the Senior DIG in charge of Western Province.
