Former deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardana banned from going abroad
The Colombo High Court on the request of the Commission to investigate bribery or corruption, impounded former deputy minister Sarana Gunawardana’s passport.
Gunawardana’s passport was suspended after the Bribery Commission submitted reports to the Colombo High court about 50 corruption charges.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya later ordered former deputy minister Sarana Gunawardana to appear in court on the 11th of this month.
Earlier, on the petitions submitted by the Bribery Commission, passports of former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and MP Sajin Vass Gunawardana were suspended for 3 months.
