The Frontline Socialist Party has sent a letter to President Maithreepala Sirisena requesting him to create an opportunity for its politburo member Kumar Gunaratnam to engage in politics without any hindrance.
The party said that a copy of the same letter has been sent to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The letter by the Frontline Socialist Party stated that there is a move to detain or deport Kumar Gunaratnam, therefore the party requests the President to give Gunaratnam a chance to engage in politics as democracy has been given a chance under the new administration.
The significance of this letter is to have 57 signatures of social activists including the signatures of convener of the National Movement for a Just Society Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera, several university teachers, artistes and civil organization representatives.
