Katagoda, a hurdle to Fonseka
Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka says that he is prevented from entering parliament as Jayantha Katagoda does not resign from his parliament seat.
Fonseka said that both the Attorney General and the Election Commissioner have stated that there are no legal barriers for him to enter parliament.
He also said the Jayantha Katagoda has also been educated on this matter.
Jayantha Katagoda entered to parliament to fill the vacancy created after Sarath Fonseka was jailed.
The vacant seat legally belonged to the JVP, but it was significant that the party did not accept to fill the vacancy with one of their members at that time.
Democratic Party Deputy Leader Jayantha Katagoda pledged his support to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the last presidential election.
However the barriers which prevented Fonseka to enter parliament were cleared after President Maithreepala Sirisena recently granted full pardon for Sarath Fonseka.
