Police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said 26 tractors made in Pakistan which were used to conceal heroin, before they smuggled to Sri Lanka had been abandoned in this yard.

In this modus operandi, the smugglers had removed the gear boxes of the tractors and concealed boxes of narcotic in the vacuum.

However the Police Media spokesman told a media conference held this afternoon that the smuggled heroin was not found inside the vacuum at the time of the raid today.

A Sri Lankan owner of this vehicle yard had rented the property to a British national on a 185 thousand rupees monthly fee.

The police media spokesman said evidence found that two Pakistani nationals also assisted to operate this drug racket from this place.

SSP Ajith Rohana further said that investigations continue to probe how these tractors concealed with narcotic were released by the Customs, and how they were distributed later.
