The Supreme Court today ordered the principals of 36 national schools to submit details about admission of students from Year 2 to Year 5 in the years from 2010 to 2013.

This order was given after considering a petition filed in 2014 by the Lanka Teachers Association and 13 parents.

The petitioners stated that students have been admitted to national schools through inappropriate means, thereby violating the fundamental rights of the students who passed the Year 5 scholarship.

The petitioners requested the Supreme Court to order authorities to introduce an appropriate system to admit students to national schools.
