Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Sashi Weerawansa who had been in remand for obtaining a fake passport on forged documents was released today on strict bail conditions.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered today to release Weerawansa’s wife on 15 thousand rupees cash bail and two personal bails amounting to 5 hundred thousand rupees each.

In addition, Sashi Weerawansa was ordered to appear before Court Registrar on last Friday of each month between 9 o’clock in the morning and 12 noon.

The Magistrate also warned the suspect that she would be remanded without bail until the case is over if she would breach the bail conditions or intimidate witnesses.

At the same time Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya warned former minister Wimal Weerawansa not to talk in front of the Court similar to that of his political speeches made elsewhere.

The case is scheduled to be called again on May 15th.
