Kumar’s citizenship application rejected
The Emigration and Immigration Controller Nihal Ranasinghe says that the application submitted by Frontline Socialist Party central working committee member Kumar Gunaratnam to obtain citizenship was rejected.
The fundamental rights application of Kumar Gunaratnam requesting to prevent arresting or deporting him was rejected by the Supreme Court on the 18th of this month.
Accordingly, Gunaratnam who was overstaying was asked to report to the Emigration and Immigration Department with his air ticket but he has not turned out to the department so far.
Therefore Emigration and Immigration Controller Nihal Ranasinghe told that he has already requested the IGP in writing to assist him to arrest Kumar Gunaratnam.
Meanwhile when our news team enquired the Emigration and Immigration Controller about the inspection of Frontline socialist Party MP Ajith Kumara’s Pannipitiya Office by Immigration officers and police, Emigration and Immigration Controller Nihal Ranasinghe had this to say.
