UPFA local government representatives insist that they would participate in the public rally to be held tomorrow in Kandy which demands to make former president Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Ministerial candidate in the forthcoming General Election.

Addressing a media briefing held in Kandy today, the UPFA local government representatives said that they have taken a decision to participate in all the pro-Mahinda meetings in the future despite any obstacle.

SLFP Provincial Councilors Manel Bandara, Lakshman Gunawardana, Samanmalee Sakalasuriya, Lalith Ellawala, Moratuwa Mayor Samanlal Fernando and Divulapitiya PS member Indika Anuruddha participated in the media briefing.

UPFA coalitions LSSP Western PC member Upul Rajitha, NFF Nimal Piyatissa also participated in the media briefing.

Meanwhile, Western Provincial council chief minister Prasanna Ranatunga says that he decided not to participate in Kandy rally tomorrow not in fear of anybody.

Speaking to his media unit from Australia, Chief Minister Ranatunga has told that he would participate in all future rallies despite any obstacles.

Before leaving for Australia last evening, Chief Minister Ranatunga has told in a meeting held in Minuwangoda that the battle to bring back former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Ministerial candidate cannot be stopped.

The SLFP members have expressed these views at a time that SLFP has banned its members from participating in public rallies organized by different political parties.

The official statement prohibiting its members from participating in other political party meetings were issued recently by SLFP General Secretary MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.
