Proposal to abolish Executive Presidency missing in 19th amendment

The abolishment of the Executive Presidency has become the talking point in the political arena after the recently released 19th Constitutional Amendment Draft Bill is conspicuously absent of such a proposal.

The National Executive Council which met yesterday has also discussed regarding this proposal which was not included in the new draft bill.

Our news team enquired from the political parties regarding the annulment of the Executive Presidency.

Expressing his views on behalf of SLFP MP W.D.J. Seneviratne stated that the SLFP do not take the stance of completely abolishing the Executive Presidency.
