Petitions with regard to the 19th constitutional amendment filed before the Supreme Court will be taken up for hearing from today.

The Supreme Court appointed a bench of three judges for giving the required interpretation.

Chief Justice K. Sripavan, and Supreme Court Judges Chandraa Ekanaayaka as well as Priyasaad Dep are the members of this bench.

The JHU and the JVP filed two petitions before the Supreme Court with regard to the 19th constitutional amendment yesterday.

Accordingly by now 13 petitions relevant to the 19th constitutional amendment have been filed before the Supreme Court.

Reports say that similarly intermediaries have filed four more petitions before the Supreme Court requesting that permission be grnted for making submissions for and against the petitions.
