8 fatal accidents within 36 hours

The Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that 8 persons have died in motor accident reported throughout the country within the last 36 hours.

He said most of these accidents reported from Marawila, Damana, Omanthai, Mawarala, Pannala and Mundalama have occurred due to reckless driving.

A little girl, her relative and three wheeler driver were killed and two others injured when their three wheeler hit with a lorry at Pulichchakulama at Mundalama in Puttalam this morning.

At the same time, another person was killed and two others injured when a SLTB bus and a three wheeler hit at Marawila in Chilaw yesterday.

Another little boy was killed and three others were injured when a three wheeler and a double cab were hit at Pannikaniravi road in Vavuniya yesterday.

In another accident, a motor cyclist died after he failed to control his speed and veered off his cycle on Urubokka Mulatiyana road. A two-year old child was killed when a tipper hit the boy by the side of Paddy Store at Baudda colony on Deeghavapi temple in Ampara.
