A meeting with regard to the 19th constitutional Amendment is being held with the patronage of Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa at the parliament complex.

A senior parliament officer told our news team that the discussion is centered on the amendment and the date for a debate.

He said a final decision would be fixed during the meeting today.

Meanwhile petitions filed against the 19th Amendment are heard before a panel of Supreme Court judges including Chief Justice K. Sri Pavan today as well.

The recently held National Executive Council decided to hold the debate over the 19th amendment on April 9th and 10th.

However a parliament senior official said that it would not be taken for debate as there are petitions filed against it at the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile media reported quoting SLFP that it had requested the Speaker to postpone the presenting of the 19th amendment to parliament.

However SLFP Youth Front President MP Shantha Bandara told our news team that such a decision had not been taken by his party.
