Government’s proposal defeated by majority votes

A proposal presented in parliament to obtain Rs. 400 billion through Treasury bills was defeated by 21 majority votes.

The proposal received 31 votes for and 52 votes against.

Independent Parliamentarian representing the Frontline Socialist party Ajith Kumara made a request that a vote taking should be held regarding the proposal.
