Motion of displeasure against the Opp. Leader
The Central Provincial Council Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake says that he would move a motion of displeasure against the Opposition Leader, if a no confidence motion is moved against him.
However Central Provincial Council Opposition Leader Ranjith Aluvihare told our news team that the no confidence motion against the Chief Minister would be presented tomorrow as the current chief minister has no majority support in the council.
32 ruling members of the ruling party and the opposition handed over affidavits to Central Provincial Governor Surangani Ellawala on March 12th, asking to replace the chief ministerial post with Thilina Bandara Tennakoon.
The UPFA holds 36 seats out of 58 seats of the Central Provincial Council.
UNP holds 16 seats while Democratic Party and Ceylon Workers Congress hold 2 seats each.
Upcountry People’s Front and Muslim Congress also hold one seat each.
However CPC Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said that he is ready for any sort of no confidence motion, and he would also move a motion of displeasure against Opposition Leader Ranjith Aluvihare.
Chief Ministers of UPFA controlled Uva, North Central and Eastern Provincial councils were changed after the Presidential election.
