Special party leaders’ meeting tomorrow

A special meeting of the party leaders representing parliament will be held at the parliamentary complex at 9.30 am tomorrow.

The meeting will be held regarding the 19th constitutional amendment.

Several party leaders have submitted a letter to the Speaker yesterday, stating that an urgent meeting of party leaders should be convened to resolve several pressing issues.

Among the party leaders who signed this letter are Dinesh Gunawardena, Wasudewa Nanayakkara, Wimal Weerawansa, Tissa Vitharana and D.E.W. Gunasekara.

The parliamentary debate on 19th amendment will be held on 20th and 21st of this month.

The letter addressed to the Speaker states that an urgent meeting of the party leaders should be held prior to this debate.

Accordingly, a party leader told our news team that the speaker has agreed to hold a party leaders’ meeting tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, UPFA party leaders’ meeting will be held at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon.

The President is also due to attend this meeting.
