Minor parties to submit proposals on new electoral system to Elections Commissioner
A series of proposals regarding the 20th amendment which includes amendments to the electoral system are to be handed over to the Elections Commissioner.
SLMC National Organizer Shafeek Rajabdeen stated that SLMC is leading this task, and that they would discuss in detail with other minor parties regarding the proposed electoral reforms.
The National Organizer of SLMC further stated that they reached a final agreement regarding the series of proposals following the SLMC supreme council meeting convened yesterday.
Meanwhile, several minor parties are to hold talks this evening regarding the proposed amendments to the electoral system.
Leader of Nawa Sama Samaja Party Wickramabahu Karunaratne told our news team that his stance is not to change the Proportional Representative system, but to change only the Preferential voting system.
