President & PM agreed to debate on 19th A - JVP

Propaganda Secretary of the JVP, MP Vijitha Herath states that President agreed to debate the 19th amendment in Parliament today and to hold the vote tomorrow.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasingha, Minister Kabeer Hashim, JVP MP Vijitha Herath, leader of the SLMC Rauff Hakeem and TNA MP M A Sumandiran met the President last night.

MP Vijitha Herath stated that it was agreed during the meeting.

JVP MP Vijitha Herath quoted Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva as saying he firmly demanded that the 20th Amendment to change the electoral system should be introduced together with the 19th Amendment.

Speaking to the media after the political party leaders’ meeting held in the afternoon, MP Herath said the passing of the 19th Amendment is complicated under the prevailing circumstances.
