113 MPs signed Petition against Bribery DG

A petition signed by 113 opposition MPs against the Director General of the Bribery Commission was handed over to the Speaker by MP Bandula Gunawardana.

Later a tense situation erupted in parliament as several ministers intervened when NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa was addressing house.

However the Speaker was compelled to adjourn the house sittings twice to hold political party leaders’ meetings.

The house was first adjourned for 15 minutes after a group of opposition MP occupied the well of the house.

Later it was adjourned for the second time for half an hour to hold a party leaders’ meeting.
